"Never build massive cemeteries. Instead, allocate pieces of land throughout the community as grave sites--corners of parks, sections of paths, gardens, beside gateways... Give each grave site an edge, a path, and a quiet corner where people can sit. By custom, this is hallowed land"
A Pattern Language pages 356-357
Or better yet, incorporate the grave site into the Church grounds, or the family homestead. But no matter the location, make the graves accessible within short reach where communion is not a burden.
This blog is about : Organic Catholicism. . . . . Organic Catholicism is at human scale. It's eminently practical, and simple. . . . . It's back to nature, as in back to our nature. It looks at the world around us according to our nature, which in turn is to look at the world simply . . . . . . . . . . . . . Warning to those who are easily offended, perhaps this blog is not for you
This would humanize us all. An excellent idea.
